Frozen lake in the Snow

Well due to the snow, and not being able to get my car off my drive, due to my car being rear wheel drive, and having a 30m long driveway, which meant that I couldn't get to work, so I ended up spending the day at home on Wednesday 6th January.

I live in front of a HUGEEEEEE lake, and its great to go bird watching, or just getting away from it all. It's lovely in the summer, but soo sceanic in the winter with the snow, especially if you catch it at sunset.

Anyway, I took some lovely pictures as we walked around, so I will put some of these up in the absence of my gardening pics!!!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!!!!

Well it's now 2010, and thanks to my old friend Global Warming, or so as some people would have you to believe, It is snowing, but what a load of old tripe!!! Global Warming!!! I remember back when I was a kid in the early 1980's, the snow being much worse, at least a ft deep, now if we get 4-5inches, the whole country seems to grind to a halt, at least we dont lose our electricity like we used to!!!! Unless you are in Hampshire of course!!! lol
Anyway, as it was over Xmas, didn't seem to do much on the house, or the garden, but in those couple days after New Years, before I went back to work, and before the snow came flying in, me and Amy (my wife), or correctly, Amy and I, managed to dig the 6x 2ft deep holes in the ground ready to concrete in the posts for the fence to enclose the impending fruit garden. But atlas, got them dug, got the posts in position, cut to right level, before it got to dark to be able to see what we were doing, not fun trying to use a spirit level to get the posts in the correct position, then wedging in bricks and hardcore, almost ready for concrete, by torch light!!
Anyway, thought to myself, I'll wait to the following weekend so I can concrete them, but unfortunately, the snow comes in, the temperature drops into the negatives, and suddenly, no concreting can be done until it warms up!!! So come on Global Warming, heat us up so I can concrete :)

But in the mean time, I thought I would post some pics of the positioning of the posts in the holes awaiting concrete.

Well until the next post.........
